What’s in the syllabus?

The NEBOSH National Construction Certificate is tailored specifically to give a solid grounding in both the legal and practical aspects of health and safety management in Construction. The course is split into elements that are listed below:

  2. Policy
  3. Organising for H&S
  4. Positive H&S Culture promotion
  5. Risk assessment
  6. Principles of control
  7. Monitoring, review and audit
  8. Accident and incident investigation and reporting


  1. Construction law & management
  2. Construction activities - hazards and controls
  3. Movement of people and vehicles – hazards and control
  4. Manual and mechanical handling – hazards and control
  5. Work equipment – hazards and control
  6. Electrical – hazards and control
  7. Fire – hazards and control
  8. Chemical and biological – hazards and control
  9. Physical and psychological health – hazards and control
  10. Work at height – hazards and control
  11. Excavation – hazards and control
  12. Demolition – hazards and control

How is the qualification assessed?

There are 3 elements to the assessment of success on the course:

  1. NCC2 Practical exam – You carry out an inspection of a construction site and write a report to management
  2. NGC1 exam – 2 hours
  3. NCC2 exam – 2 hours

You must pass all three exams to receive your NEBOSH Construction Certificate.

What does the qualification mean?

Successful completion will give you the self assurance necessary to enable you to manage the H&S aspects of your job in construction confidently.

You are eligible for membership of IOSH at the level – Tech IOSH. You are also eligible for associate membership of MIIRSM.

For those wishing to progress to higher H&S qualifications (NEBOSH Diploma etc.) the general certificate is a great stepping stone.

The qualification will enhance your status with regard to career advancement and future employment.





How much time will the course take?

The taught elements are completed in three consecutive weeks. This includes a revision day, practical exam day and the final day for both written exams giving 15 days in total.

£1599 per delegate, inclusive of all exam fees and course materials.
